Endomorphin research reagents
Endomorphin-1 and endomorphin-2 are amidated tetrapeptides with the highest μ-receptor selectivity of any endogenous opioid described, and they are unusual in that no precursor gene has ever been identified for them. Their very short sequence makes them easy to modify, so most of the literature uses substituted and constrained analogues to resist peptidase cleavage and to probe the μ binding pocket. They are studied in analgesia and in opioid receptor pharmacology.
