The 29G × 0.5 mL insulin syringe is the compact companion to our 31G × 1 mL model. It has a half-milliliter barrel graduated in 0.01 mL increments (50 units on the U-100 scale), a permanently attached 29 gauge, 1/2 inch (12.7 mm) needle, and a low-dead-space plunger. Because the same number of graduations is spread over half the volume, the markings are more widely spaced and easier to read when measuring very small quantities.
Researchers use this format when transferring small volumes of reconstituted peptide solution — for example, moving measured aliquots from a stock vial into sterile empty vials, or preparing dilution series for assays. The 29G needle is slightly wider than a 31G, which makes it a little more rigid and lets viscous or concentrated solutions pass more freely, while the longer 1/2 inch length reaches comfortably to the bottom of a 3 mL vial.

Can the needle be removed or changed?
