Overview
Bronchogen is a synthetic tetrapeptide with the sequence L-alanyl-L-glutamyl-L-aspartyl-L-leucine (Ala-Glu-Asp-Leu, or AEDL). Within the Khavinson short-peptide bioregulator series it is the sequence assigned to bronchial and lung tissue, following the same development path as the rest of the family: an organ-derived peptide preparation was studied first, a short candidate sequence identified, and the defined synthetic tetrapeptide adopted as the research material.
AEDL is the hydrophobic member of the Ala-Glu-Asp trio. Where Cortagen ends in proline and Cardiogen in arginine, Bronchogen ends in leucine, a branched aliphatic residue with no charge.
