The active is the synthetic tetrapeptide Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly — also written epithalon or AEDG — CAS 307297-39-8, molecular formula C14H22N4O9, molecular weight 390.35 g/mol. Epitalon originates from the Khavinson bioregulator programme, where it was developed as a defined synthetic counterpart to Epithalamin, a pineal-derived polypeptide extract. It is one of the most studied peptides in that family, appearing in work on telomerase expression in cultured human fibroblasts, on melatonin rhythm and pineal signalling, and on lifespan and tumour incidence endpoints in rodents.
