Overview
This serum is a lightweight aqueous preparation of GHK-Cu, the copper(II) complex of the tripeptide glycyl-L-histidyl-L-lysine. GHK was identified in human plasma in the early 1970s as a fragment corresponding to a sequence in albumin, and its affinity for copper is what gives the complex its characteristic deep blue colour and much of its research interest. Plasma levels of GHK are reported to fall with age, which is one reason the peptide has been studied so heavily in skin and matrix biology.
