Overview

Oxytocin troches are compressed sublingual lozenges formulated with synthetic oxytocin in a slowly dissolving base. They are supplied in packs of thirty at two strengths: 50 IU per troche and 120 IU per troche, corresponding to roughly 100 µg and 240 µg of peptide using the conventional 1 IU ≈ 2 µg conversion. The active peptide is the same cyclic nonapeptide, closed by a Cys1–Cys6 disulfide bridge, that we supply as lyophilized powder and as a nasal solution.

Questions about Oxytocin Troches (Sublingual)

How much oxytocin is in each troche?

The 50 IU troche contains approximately 100 µg of oxytocin and the 120 IU troche approximately 240 µg, using the conventional 1 IU ≈ 2 µg conversion for synthetic oxytocin. Each pack holds thirty troches, so total peptide content is roughly 3 mg and 7.2 mg respectively.

Why are troches expressed in IU rather than milligrams?

Oxytocin has historically been quantified by bioassay activity rather than mass, and international units remain the conventional expression for it. The mass equivalent is straightforward — about 2 µg per IU — but IU labelling stays in use because it matches how the peptide is described across the literature.

Is a certificate of analysis available?

Yes. The oxytocin used to make each lot is analysed by reverse-phase HPLC for purity of ≥99% and confirmed by mass spectrometry, and a lot-matched COA is available on request. Quote the lot number printed on the pack when asking for the document.
