Overview
SS-31, also known as elamipretide and historically as MTP-131 or Bendavia, is a synthetic tetrapeptide built on the Szeto–Schiller aromatic-cationic scaffold. Its sequence, D-Arg-Dmt-Lys-Phe-NH2, alternates basic and aromatic residues and incorporates a D-arginine and the unnatural amino acid 2',6'-dimethyl-L-tyrosine (Dmt), a design that gives the molecule unusual resistance to peptidase cleavage for its size.
Supplied as a lyophilized powder in a sealed vial, our SS-31 is manufactured by solid-phase synthesis and purified by preparative HPLC. Every lot carries a Certificate of Analysis with HPLC purity and mass-spectrometric identity data. For laboratory research use only.

Questions about SS-31 (Elamipretide)
What is SS-31?
SS-31 is a synthetic four-residue aromatic-cationic peptide, also called elamipretide, designed by the Szeto–Schiller group. It is studied in laboratory settings for its reported affinity for cardiolipin in the inner mitochondrial membrane and its use as a tool compound in bioenergetics research.
How is purity verified?
Each lot is tested by reverse-phase HPLC for purity of ≥99% and by mass spectrometry for identity against the expected molecular weight of 639.80 g/mol. The lot-matched Certificate of Analysis is available before purchase and documents both results.
What sizes can I order?
SS-31 is available in 10 mg, 30 mg and 50 mg lyophilized vials. Because the molecule is small, a given milligram amount contains substantially more molar material than an equivalent mass of a larger peptide such as MOTS-c.
How should it be stored?
Keep the lyophilized vial at −20 °C, protected from light and moisture. After reconstitution, store at 2–8 °C, keep the container shielded from light, and aliquot so that the working solution is not repeatedly frozen and thawed.
